Simone is Accepting New Psychotherapy Clients for June Start Dates

Simone Veale (she/her) has concluded her 2025-2026 Obsidian Care Collective clinical practicum and is now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (Lic#: P023801) in the State of North Carolina. Simone will be seeing clients for individual and couple’s psychotherapy starting June 16th, 2026. Simone has just completed her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) at UNC Chapel Hill and is accepting referrals for virtual and in person psychotherapy at Obsidian Care Collective. She is supervised by J. Louise Newton, MSW, LCSW, SEP, receiving weekly individual and group supervision as part of her licensure requirements in her advanced clinical training.

Simone brings a warm, collaborative, and reflective approach to sessions, believing that therapy is a space where clients can feel heard, explore patterns, and work toward living in line with their values. Simone views the therapeutic relationship as central to the healing process and strives to create a supportive, judgment-free environment Simone also specializes in providing care in these areas:

  • adolescents, adults, and couples

  • anxiety & depression

  • eating disorders & trauma recovery

  • life transitions

  • LGBTQIA+ affirming care

  • specialty work with athletes and enhanced performance for all folks

  • Intensives for Couple’s

As a queer individual, Simone is committed to supporting LGBTQ+ clients as they explore identity development, navigate family and relationship dynamics, or seek an affirming space to process their experiences.

Simone integrates her person-centered approach to therapy with psychodynamic and somatic informed interventions. She provides psychoeducation to her clients as they learn about how their own experiences of their mental health impacts their daily lives. Simone's work is also grounded in the top two evidence-based modalities as she offers practical strategies that work– Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She tailors her approach to each client, recognizing that every individual and relationship brings unique strengths and needs.

Before her time at Obsidian, Simone completed her generalist practicum in adult guardianship at Arosa, where she worked closely with older adults and individuals navigating complex health, cognitive, and social challenges. She also brings a strong background in neuroscience research, having worked on studies with individuals living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders. These experiences inform her ability to approach clinical work with curiosity, empathy, and a systemic lens.

Simone graduated Cum Laude from Williams College with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Biology. She was awarded her MSW at UNC in May of 2026. Simone’s skills were recognized by Obsidian co-founders to be extraordinary; as a result she was invited to join the practice shortly after beginning her clinical practicum at the Equitable Care Clinic at Obsidian. She is actively accepting new clients at Obsidian.

Outside of her clinical work, Simone is an avid runner and triathlete. She values movement as a form of self-care and a meditative space, and she hopes to incorporate movement-based approaches into therapeutic practice in the future.
